Visibility Still Wins

Oklahoma's Choice Weekly Logo

Visibility Still Wins

There’s something different about being in a publication.  It’s structured.  It’s intentional.  It’s not fighting for attention between cat videos and political rants.  Oklahoma’s Choice Weekly is built that way on purpose.  We aren’t chasing trends.  We’re building presence.

Format Isn’t the Point. Authority Is.

Some businesses get distracted by format.  Print. Digital. Social. Video.

The truth?  Customers don’t care how they find you.  They care that they do find you.  Our edition keeps the integrity of a newspaper, organized, credible, while meeting readers where they are right now.

Accessible. Clickable. Shareable.

But still structured.

Still intentional.

That combination matters.

Familiarity Is a Strategy

The businesses that win aren’t always the loudest.  They’re the most familiar. When your name appears consistently inside a trusted local publication, it reinforces something subtle but powerful:

Stability.
Credibility.
Presence.

That kind of positioning compounds over time.  And the businesses that understand that are always a few steps ahead.

The Smart Businesses Are Thinking Long-Term

Short-term thinking sounds like:  “Let’s try it once.”

Long-term thinking sounds like:  “Let’s build visibility.”

Markets shift. Platforms evolve. Consumption habits change.  But one thing hasn’t changed:  People buy from businesses they recognize.

Oklahoma’s Choice Weekly continues to evolve in ways that strengthen that recognition  and the businesses aligned with us grow right alongside it.  We’re not standing still.  And neither should you.

The Real Question
Advertising Insights with Anesa

If someone needs what you offer tomorrow…Will your name feel familiar?  Visibility is not about today.  It’s about building momentum for what’s next. And momentum favors the businesses that stay present.

35 Years of Steel. One Day to Own It.

Chupps Auction

35 Years of Steel. One Day to Own It.

Complete Machine Shop Liquidation – Broken Arrow, OK

This is not a partial clean-out.

This is not a surplus sale.

This is a full machine shop liquidation after 35 years in operation.

On Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 9:00 AM, the doors open and everything moves.

If you work in fabrication, machining, welding, resale, metal supply, or industrial operations — this is the kind of event you mark in permanent ink.

What’s Actually Hitting the Auction Block?

We’re talking about a complete working shop:

  • CNC Milling Machines

  • Lathes

  • Waterjet Metal Cutting System

  • Metal Shears

  • Band Saws

  • Magnetic Drilling System

  • Grinders

  • Drill Presses

  • Welders

  • Air Compressors

  • Forklifts

  • Machinist Tools

  • Metal Work Benches

  • Mill Vises

  • Pallet Racking + Shelving

  • Shop Fans

  • LOTS of Metal Stock

Not random pieces.

Not scrap.

Operational equipment from a shop that’s been running since 1991.

Why This Matters

Buying new right now?

Expensive.
Long lead times.
Supply chain headaches.

Buying at auction?

Opportunity.

Whether you’re:

  • Expanding your shop

  • Replacing equipment

  • Launching your own operation

  • Stocking inventory

  • Flipping industrial assets

This is how smart operators build capacity without retail pricing.

And events like this don’t happen every week.

Live Onsite + Online Bidding

Auction starts at 9:00 AM.

Lots 2–84 begin at 10:31 AM.

You can bid:

✔ Live onsite
✔ Online

Which means this isn’t just local traffic.

It’s competitive.

If you see something you need, plan accordingly.

A Shop Built Since 1991

Owner J.R. Marks is retiring after decades in the machine shop industry.

That means every machine, tool, and piece of stock represents years of production and maintenance — not a warehouse of forgotten equipment.

If you’ve ever priced CNC machines, fabrication tools, or industrial shelving lately, you already understand the value sitting in this building.

The Clock Is Ticking

Auction day is Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Starts at 9:00 AM.

Serious buyers show up early.

Because when the gavel drops…

It’s gone.

If you’re in metal fabrication, machining, welding, industrial resale, or equipment acquisition, this isn’t a maybe.

It’s a move.

See you at 9:00 AM.

We Already Have Social Media (And Other Dangerous Marketing Assumptions)

Oklahoma's Choice Weekly Logo
We Already Have Social Media
(And Other Dangerous Marketing Assumptions)

By Anesa K. Chastain Jones - Advertising Insights with Anesa
Oklahoma’s Choice Weekly

I hear this a lot lately:  “We already post on Facebook.”  “We already have Instagram.” “We’re doing fine online.”  Okay.  But let me ask you something.  Is social media working for you…or are you just existing on it?  Because those are two very different things.

Posting Is Not Advertising

Having a social media page is not a marketing strategy.  It’s a communication tool.  Social media is great for:

•Engaging customers you already have.

•Sharing updates.

•Showing personality.

•Staying top of mind, sometimes.

But it is not guaranteed visibility.  When you post on social media, you are at the mercy of:

•Algorithms.

•Timing.

•Engagement.

•Competing content.

•Paid prioritization.

You might have 3,000 followers.  But how many actually see your post?  Often?  A fraction.

And those are mostly people who already know you.

Advertising Reaches Beyond Your Bubble

Here’s the difference:  Social media talks to your audience.  Advertising expands your audience.  If you only post on your page, you’re speaking inside your own circle.

Running in the paper, whether digital edition or print, places your business in front of people who may not be following you, may not be searching for you, and may not even know you exist yet.  That’s growth.

Visibility You Don’t Control vs. Visibility You Secure

On social media:

•Reach fluctuates.

•Posts disappear in hours.

•Content competes with memes, news, and distractions.

In the paper:  Your ad is positioned intentionally.  It lives in a trusted space.  It is seen by readers actively consuming local content.  It isn’t buried under someone’s vacation photos.  One is reactive.  The other is strategic placement.

“But We Boost Posts.”

Good.  Boosting means you already understand that organic reach isn’t enough.  So let’s think bigger.  Instead of boosting a post that disappears in 48 hours… What if you also place your business in a publication where:

•It sits alongside other reputable businesses.

•It reinforces credibility.

•It builds long-term brand recall.

•It supports the local ecosystem that supports you.

Social media builds speed.  Publication builds stature.

The Hidden Cost of Relying Only on Social Media

When businesses rely only on social media, here’s what happens:

•They market to the same people repeatedly.

•They chase engagement instead of building authority.

•They become dependent on trends.

•They plateau.

And then they wonder why growth stalls.

Because exposure inside your own follower list isn’t expansion.  It’s maintenance.

Why Running in the Paper Still Matters

Even in a digital-only season, the paper is different.

•It’s curated.

•It’s intentional.

•It’s consumed differently than scrolling.

People don’t skim a publication the same way they skim a feed.  They read.  They browse.  They discover.  Discovery is powerful.  You don’t grow by waiting for people to search for you.  You grow by showing up where they’re already looking.

The Real Question

If someone new moved to town today…  Would they find you?  Or would they only find the businesses that advertise beyond their own page?

Advertising Insights with Anesa
Advertising Insight of the Week

Social media is part of the plan.  It is not the whole plan.  If you want stability, growth, and real visibility, you cannot rely on one channel, especially one you don’t control.  Post online. Engage your followers.  But also position your business where it expands your reach, not just maintains it.  Because visibility isn’t about having a page.  It’s about being seen.

Love is in the air! Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it.

The Kitchen Sink from the August 6, 2025 Edition of Oklahoma's Choice Weekly
Love is in the air! Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it. If you have kids, chances are you have been prepping for a bit. Class parties, valentines for the class, teacher gifts, valentines for their other friends. It feels never ending. I have been lucky enough to not be in charge of class parties. So grateful to the moms that take on the class parties! Get them a little Thank you card or treat because we all know that is so much work.

Lets talk flower vases! To extend the life of the flowers, I am sure you will be receiving them this year. A clean vase is the best foundation. I recommend cleaning with dish soap and a bottle brush. I know sometimes you can’t quite get down there even with a bottle brush. I suggest add a handful of rice. I know its odd but add it with you soap and a little bit of water and swirl around until clean. Works like a charm. Now, what you use to keep your flowers fresh there is always a debate there and it depends where they come from. Lets say store bought. I always use the packet that comes with, but I always trim them at a 45 degree angle and cut out any extra leaves. I’ve heard add a aspirin or sugar, even bleach, whatever works for you.

Now to cleaning! With all the snow and ice, salt, comes mud. Which means floors will need cleaning. My first suggestion is to not deep clean until the mud outside is dry. You don’t eat Oreos and brush your teeth? Right! Basic clean, vacuum and sweep the salt to keep it from going everywhere. Then when you are ready to mop or clean the carpet. Vinegar is going to be your best friend here. A 1 part vinegar to 10 part water mixture to get the salt residue out. I would suggest using this for both wood and carpet. Mop or use your carpet cleaner, you may have to do multiple passes, make sure you raise cleaning after.

**For future floor saving purposes. When there is snow and ice like this, I always put towels by the door for shoes and swap them out each day. It’s the most effective way I have come up with. We have wood floors now, but when we had carpet it was such a soggy mess. I would put multiple towels down to help keep things dry and from the salt getting everywhere. The mess can’t be helped, kids and pets going in and out multiple times a day. Happy kids with great snow day memories, make the struggle worth it.

With all snow, ice, and cold and now temps are back in the 60s. Allergens will be high, which means lots of dusting. Gotta love Oklahoma weather right. I recommend tracking your area’s air quality, it helps let me know when to run the air purifier and when to vacuum even if I don’t think it needs to be done, I try to dust a little extra these days. It has helped my son’s allergies and asthma quite a bit.

Join us March 11th, when we will talk about springing into spring and hopping into Easter.

Valentine’s Day, Advertising, and Loving What You Do

Oklahoma's Choice Weekly Logo

Valentine’s Day, Advertising, and Loving What You Do

By Anesa K. Chastain Jones - Advertising Insights with Anesa

Oklahoma’s Choice Weekly

Valentine’s Day usually gets framed as romance, hearts, and grand gestures.  But at its core, it’s really about commitment.

Showing up.

Caring enough to do something well.

Putting thought into what you create and who it’s for.

And honestly? That’s a pretty good description of good advertising.

Loving the Work Shows

The best advertising doesn’t feel forced.  It feels intentional.  You can tell when someone actually cares about what they do:

The message is clear

The design is thoughtful

The timing makes sense

The effort shows

Whether it’s a digital ad, a social post, or a simple announcement, people can spot authenticity fast. And they can spot the opposite even faster.  When advertising is done by people who love the work, it doesn’t scream for attention, it earns it.

Advertising Is a Craft, Not a Shortcut

Good advertising isn’t an accident. It’s a process.  It takes:

Understanding the audience

Knowing the business

Making smart choices about message and placement

Being willing to refine instead of rushing

That kind of care only comes from people who are invested, not just in the result, but in the work itself.

Why Passion Still Matters in a Digital World

With automation, templates, and one-click posting everywhere, it’s tempting to treat advertising like a box to check.  But the campaigns that actually work?  They still come from human thought.  From people who:

Notice details

Ask better questions

Care how something looks, reads, and feels

Want the business on the other side of the ad to succeed

That’s not old-fashioned. That’s effective.

Valentine’s Day Is a Reminder

This time of year isn’t just about selling products or promotions.  It’s a reminder to reconnect with:

Why you started your business

Why you care about your customers

Why your message matters

Advertising works best when it comes from that place, not obligation, but intention.

The Oklahoma’s Choice Weekly Difference

At Oklahoma’s Choice Weekly, advertising has never been about filling space or checking boxes.  It’s about helping local businesses be seen, understood, and remembered.  We believe:

Clear messages matter

Good design is not optional

Consistency builds trust

And caring about the work shows in the results

We work with advertisers who take pride in what they do and we take just as much pride in helping them tell that story the right way.  This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating the businesses, creators, and advertisers who still believe in doing things with purpose.  Because when you love what you do, and you advertise like it, people notice.  And that’s the kind of connection that lasts.
