Walking Tacos: No Plate, No Problem
There are tacos, and then there are tacos you can carry around while talking, walking and trying not to spill shredded cheese everywhere.
Walking Tacos take everything you love about taco night and serve it inside an individual bag of corn chips. The chips become both the base and the bowl, which means less cleanup and more room for toppings.
Start with seasoned ground beef, then pile on shredded cheese, lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, jalapeƱos or whatever else belongs on your perfect taco. Hand everyone a fork and dinner is served.
Perfect for Feeding a Crowd
Walking Tacos are especially handy when everyone wants something different. Set out the meat, corn-chip bags and an assortment of toppings, then let each person build their own.
They’re a great choice for:
Family dinners
Tailgates and watch parties
Camping trips
Birthday parties
Church and community events
Any night when washing fewer dishes sounds like an excellent plan
You can prepare the taco meat ahead of time and reheat it when you’re ready to serve. For a larger gathering, keep it warm in a slow cooker and turn the toppings into a self-serve taco bar.
The idea was adapted from the National Park Service’s Camping Recipe: Walking Taco.
